Research shows that people who are involved in something greater than themselves are happier and healthier than those who do not have a purpose greater than themselves!

How to Open Yourself to Your Life's Purpose
|
|
The one big question most of us ask ourselves is "What should I do with my life?" For most people, it's very difficult to answer.
Use these simple suggestions from people who have successfully answered this question and are now living the life of their dreams. Be inspired to pursue your dreams and discover the impact you are meant to have on the world!
Since everyone is wired a little differently we recommend using several different techniques and exercises to help people find their current Life’s Purpose. Without passion for your Life’s Purpose, creating a valid lifestyle plan came be overwhelming and seem too far in the distance. However, with a passionate Life Purpose your daily actions can easily and somewhat effortlessly align with your personal values, needs and strengths.
Finding your current Life’s Purpose at this stage of your Life requires a little investigation and maybe even a short thought provoking exercise.
People at different stages of their lives have to ask themselves….. Who am I ……and Who would I like to Be. This is especially true for those approaching retirement. Many baby boomers are now approaching the biggest change in their lives and for many others with chronic illnesses they are being forced to reevaluate their lifestyles.
Nancy K. Schlossberg, a professor emeritus at the University of Maryland and the author of Retire Smart, Retire Happy: Finding Your True Path in Life says "It's very much like when you graduated from high school or college, a few people knew exactly what they wanted to do, but the majority have no idea,"
Schlossberg divides baby boomers into six main types.
• The Easy Glider • The Adventurer • The Continuer • The Searcher • The Involved Spectator • The Retreater
Some people may fit into more than one category, and over time, people will likely shift from one type of boomer to another. Our Lifestyle Center coaches see not just baby boomers fitting into these types but also see a wide variety of people fitting into these six types. Of course with a little twist here and there.

Ten Steps to Discovering Your Passion
1. Listen to your inner voice. It takes practice to hear your true desires. Your passion will often come as a whisper or serendipitous event that reminds you of what's important and what makes you happy.
2. Recognize crisis. Does your job feel like a grind? Are you spending your free time on something you love? Take an opportunity to appraise your happiness. One of the keys to living a purposeful life is that you personally feel fulfilled!
3. Dwell in possibilities. Your passions could lead you in a lot of different directions to find fulfillment. Explore your life and unearth all of the things that bring you joy.
4. Tune out the voice of the world. Make the strongest voice in your life your own. Finding your purpose could mean going against the advice of close friends and family. Take a leap of faith and trust in your dreams.
5. Decide what kind of person you want to be. Rather than concentrating on what you want to do, think in terms of what kind of person you want to be. Let that guide your choices.
6. Bring your heart to your work. It takes passion and courage to find a profession that you love. Spending the time to discover that job is time well spent—it could make all the difference in your life!
7. Trust transformation. Hard times are a natural part of life. Don't be afraid to change because of your experiences. Instead, let them shape and steer your course.
8. Have no regrets. According to the experts, it's easy to regret the time you've spent being unhappy or unfulfilled. Realize that during that time, you developed the skills you need to succeed!
9. Take the first step. Destiny can't help you until you are willing to step out of your comfort zone. Get prepared to make changes in your life … and start making them!
10. Be patient. Finding your life purpose won't happen overnight. In every life, there's a fast road and a slow road. Most of us take the slow road! Keep your commitment and take small steps to make it happen.

A key part of any Success is Self-Understanding...
You need to know how you’re ALREADY wired in order to capitalize on the innate strengths, talents, and convictions you already have.

Just below is a link to a brilliant article that we think you’ll find very helpful, especially if you’re looking for new input on how to grow your business, develop your career and ultimately finding your Life's Purpose. It’s written by Peter Drucker, a great Strategic Interventionist working in the area of management and organizational psychology...but it’s not just about management. It’s about how to manage and guide yourself in anything that’s meaningful to you...how to understand yourself, strengthen yourself, energize yourself, create more meaning and guide yourself to greater success and fulfillment. Here are the key questions to ask yourself about where you should be that will bring out the best in you and most benefit the people around you. Drucker guides you to ask yourself five questions: 1. What are my strengths? Our culture teaches us to be well-rounded. Our schools force us to work on our weaknesses by taking classes on topics we will always find difficult. But the truth is that all of us have vast areas in which we are NOT strong and never will be excellent. But it often takes less effort to become outstanding in an area of strength than it takes to become mediocre in an area we have no strength. In work, you need to understand and focus on your strengths. 2. How do I work? What’s your learning style? How do you best take in information and turn it into results? If you know how you learn best, you’ll be able to understand more quickly and retain new knowledge much longer, and you’ll be much more skillful in your communication. 3. What are my values? What do you see as your most important responsibilities for living a worthy, ethical life? These are your emotional drivers that will either bring out your greatest strengths – or will leave you conflicted. 4. Where do I belong? For thousands of years of human history, people did not have a choice of where they should go and what they should do. If you were born a peasant, you did what others did and died a peasant. Today we not only have a choice..sometimes the choices are overwhelming. 5. What can I contribute? In earlier eras, companies told business people what their contribution should be. Work was based on force. Today, work is based on choice. You must be intelligent and decide yourself.Based on your strengths, work style, and values, understand how you might make the greatest contribution to your workplace and the world. Success in the knowledge economy comes to those who know themselves. We hope you’ll take advantage of this excellent article! It’s really a wonderful piece!
